UPen, Brown, LSU, and Purdue Jan 8th

The second FAU invite of the season will start off the first meet of 2011. In this meet overall was a much faster meet than the last invite and had two heats of each event including the 1,000. I don’t remember any interesting cheers at all but I noticed that the teams felt larger but that could have been since the average size of the men’s teams were 6 foot. Last year we had a distance swimmer, Rick Duran, who left to go swim at LSU for this year. I talked to him for a while and he seemed to like it there and was training hard but hadn’t had any great times yet so far. One thing I do remember is during the 1,000, Ricky usually sprints the last 50. Trevor Lowe, my old roommate, was swimming next to him and Trevor thought he was far enough ahead but he wasn’t and got out touched by .3.
Dale the announcer came to me again and asked if I could get some more footage since today there were few clouds out in the sky. This also took my time away from filming on my own and I could only take a few pictures of people during the meet. I also had to redo my mid meet interview and end of the meet interview.
My line up for the meet was 50 breast in the 200 medley relay, 200 Free, 500 Free, and the 200 IM. Our 200 medley relay got demolished pretty much by getting 7th but I went an ok split with a 26.91. the 200 free was pretty good, I got 2nd going a 1:42.3. I got stuck in the slower heat for the 500 free which I was ok with since I won my heat with a 4:41.6, a tenth faster than last meet. To finish off with the 200 IM it was all right getting 6th with a rough 1:57.7.
Having this meet near the end of the Christmas training it clearly showed in some of the times but shows a good sign for fast times down the road.
